Shisha Flavour Guide: Which One Should You Order?
A shisha menu can look overwhelming at first glance. In reality every flavour belongs to one of a few families, and once you know which family you are in, choosing gets easy. Here is the short guide we built from the questions guests ask most often at our lounge in Alanya.
The mint family: the safest start
If shisha is new to you, start with classic mint. It is cool, clean and easy on the throat — ideal if you are not used to heavy smoke. Turkish coffee alongside it works beautifully.
The fruit family: double apple and friends
Double apple is the classic. It has a slightly aniseed, sweet, satisfying profile. Melon, watermelon and peach are lighter and more summery — better choices if you are sitting out an Alanya afternoon.
The ice series: for hot evenings
Ice flavours add a menthol chill on top of a fruit or mint base. In July and August this is the most ordered category by far. If your throat is sensitive it may not be the first choice; half ice, half classic is a good middle ground.
Tropical and house blends
Mango–passion, pineapple–mint and similar combinations are more complex and aromatic. If you have been smoking shisha for a while and the classics feel flat, go here. House blends live in this group too — they are a venue's signature.
How many pipes for the table?
A rough rule: one pipe per two people. On a table of four, ordering two pipes with different flavours beats one large one — the tastes stay distinct and everyone smokes at their own pace.
Small things that matter
- Never smoke on an empty stomach; it is the number one cause of dizziness.
- Drink plenty of water or fresh juice alongside.
- Keep the draw slow and shallow — shisha rewards patience.
- If you cannot decide, tell the team whether you prefer sweet or cool, and let them suggest.
