Shisha in Alanya: A Seasonal Guide
One of Alanya's advantages is that the season never truly ends. The difference between August and January is real, of course, but the town stays alive through winter — and the way people enjoy shisha shifts with that rhythm.
Summer (June – September)
Heat is noticeable even in the evening. Ice series and lighter fruit flavours dominate; heavy sweet profiles can feel tiring in the warmth. Fresh juice or lemonade is the better pairing.
The hours shift too. Before 21:00 it is still hot, and the real pleasure starts after 21:30 — which is exactly when central venues fill. Booking is close to essential.
Winter (November – March)
Alanya's winter is very mild by Turkish standards, and daytimes are often comfortable outdoors. Classic mint, double apple and richer blends come forward in this period, and Turkish coffee or brewed tea sits far better alongside them.
The biggest advantage of winter is space. You will usually find a table without booking and the service has more time for you. For long conversations, this is arguably the best season.
Shoulder months (April–May, October)
The period most locals prefer. The weather is warm, the crowds are reasonable, the evenings are long. There are no real constraints on flavour either — both ice and classic series smoke well. It is also the best window for seeing Alanya itself.
Season-by-season notes
- Summer: arrive after 21:30, book ahead, try the ice series.
- Winter: afternoons are lovely, bring a light layer, return to the classics.
- Shoulder: the easiest period — fewer people, ideal weather.
